For more than five decades, Marcona District, one of the five districts in Nazca province, has been the only iron producer in Peru. Marcona has most of its land under concession with two mining companies. The documentary confronts the central challenges faced by the region: territorial conflicts, pollution, and labor rights violations. Local residents and authorities narrate the ongoing struggles under Shougang Corporation control, a Chinese state-owned steel company, which took over the exploitation in 1992.
