The LASA Continental Congresses provide an opportunity to collaborate and work on the many interesting theoretical and practical problems presented in each continent in relation to Latin America.
These congresses feature meaningful new meeting opportunities that allow for deep dialogue and interactions through smaller, highly focused gatherings in different regions of the world, thus complementing the LASA International Congress.
LASA or EANLAS membership is not required to submit a proposal and participate actively in this event. We are working with several groups of scholars, which allows to wave the membership requirement.
If you submitted an individual proposal or a session for LASA2022 whose topic is related to any of the tracks of LASA/Asia 2022, we invite you to submit it to this Congress as well, for its evaluation.
If your paper or session is accepted in the two events, please feel free to participate in both to disseminate your work to a wider audience and benefit from additional opportunities for intellectual discussion and networking.
The Latin American Studies Association (LASA) is the largest professional association in the world for individuals and institutions engaged in the study of Latin America. With over 13,000 members, over 60% of whom reside outside the United States, LASA is the one association that brings together experts on Latin America from all disciplines and diverse occupational endeavors, across the globe. LASA's mission is to foster intellectual discussion, research, and teaching on Latin America, the Caribbean, and its people throughout the Americas, promote the interests of its diverse membership, and encourage civic engagement through network building and public debate.
East Asian Network of Latin American Studies (EANLAS) is an academic network for discussion and debate of Latin American affairs and comparative analysis of Asian and Latin American societies. EANLAS, as an academic network, bridges Latin Americanists in China, Japan and Korea. The main coordinators for EANLAS are Peking University Center for Latin American Studies (China), Japan Society of Social Science on Latin America (Japan), and Latin American Studies Association of Korea (Korea). The purpose of EANLAS is to stimulate and disseminate scholarly research in the broad scope of Latin American studies in the humanities and social sciences. It organizes annual international seminars and promotes academic cooperation among scholars of three countries.
